Job Description:
Our Opportunity
Chewy is seeking meticulous and detailed Transitioning Military Service Members to join our Fulfillment Center (FC) Human Resources team as a Human Resource Administrator. If you have experience supporting personnel, maintaining accountability, enforcing standards, and taking care of your people in a military environment, this role provides a clear pathway to translate those skills into a civilian HR career!
Our Human Resource Administrators are essential to mission success. They serve as the first line of support for Team Members and leaders, ensuring our workforce is informed, supported, and ready to execute; so Chewy can continue to take care of the people who take care of pets.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact for Fulfillment Center Team Members regarding Human Resources questions, similar to unit-level personnel support in the military.
- Coordinate all new hire and in-processing activities, including communication, on-site preparation, orientation scheduling, and onboarding support.
- Conduct new employee orientations to ensure Team Members understand benefits, policies, procedures, and workplace expectations.
- Complete and audit employment documentation, including I-9s, background checks, and drug screenings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Track attendance, process timekeeping corrections, payroll adjustments, and shift changes to maintain accountability and accurate records.
- Maintain employee files and conduct routine audits, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to company and legal standards.
- Draft, revise, and proofread HR-related documents, policies, and communications as directed.
- Communicate information clearly and consistently using multiple channels such as email, phone, and posted notices.
- Support HR Business Partners and site leadership with administrative tasks, reporting, and HR initiatives.
- Assist with planning and execution of HR events, engagement activities, and office programs that support morale and culture.
What You’ll Need
- Military experience in administrative, personnel, training, or leadership support roles (e.g., S1/Admin, Personnel Specialist, Yeoman, Training NCO, Platoon or Company-level admin support).
- 1–3 years of experience performing administrative, personnel, or human resources–related duties (military or civilian).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain policies clearly and professionally.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, operational environment with competing priorities.
- Digital literacy and the ability to learn HR systems (e.g., HRIS, timekeeping, payroll systems).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-focused mission.
- Flexibility to work NIGHTS and/or WEEKENDS as required by Fulfillment Center operations.
What Separates You From the Pack
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- Prior experience supporting personnel actions, counseling documentation, or compliance audits.
- Demonstrated ability to enforce standards consistently while maintaining trust and integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and pride in accurate recordkeeping.
- A service-oriented mentality with a genuine dedication to supporting Team Members.
- Ability to remain calm, objective, and solutions-focused in challenging or sensitive situations.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to continuously improve processes and the team member experience.
At Chewy, your military experience translates. We value your discipline, accountability, and dedication to people, and we’re ready to support you as you continue your mission in Human Resources.
