Job Description

What you will be doing:

You will work in the Transaction Monitoring Squad within the Risk Apps Tribe. The team is responsible for delivering an end-to-end fraud detection solution as part of the platform used by our clients.

As a Software Engineer, you will

  • Write great code. We understand code is read more than it’s written, and better off tested. Maintainability is a must.
  • Shape what we build. Our platform is constantly evolving to attain greater scale efficiently. And our product is constantly evolving to provide the most relevant fincrime insights.
  • Own delivery. We’re obsessed with shipping value; you’ll own work beyond just a pull request.
  • Grow together. You’ll review other’s work and happily seek feedback on yours to ensure we build a better codebase and sharpen each other's skills. We believe in developing our people so you will play an important part in mentoring juniors in the team.
  • Champion engineering values. You’ll care about bugs, scalability and uptime.
  • Embody a collaborative Spirit. You’ll be working closely with Product Owners, Engineers and Data Scientists to design and implement your solutions. We work as a team and your input will be key in many architectural decisions (some that you would own) and in driving consensus.

Our Tech Stack:

  • Our technology stack is designed to run on public cloud architectures, notably AWS and GCP.
  • Development is organised around Java, Kotlin and Python for our backend languages and TypeScript/ES6+React for our frontend stack.
  • We make substantial use of relational database technologies, notably Postgres and also use noSQL technologies such as Cassandra.
  • We also use an event-sourced model powered by Kafka for our communication bus and gRPC for our intra-service communication protocol.
  • We use modern observability solutions from Datadog and deploy our code using ArgoCD.

We have a strong emphasis on engineering excellence and strive to ship the best possible code and the best possible solutions to our customers.

About you:

As a Software Engineer, you will have:

  • Experience writing large scale production-grade applications
  • Worked in an agile environment and experience in pair programming.
  • Experience working with cloud-based (AWS/Azure/GCP) or containerised infrastructure (Kubernetes/Docker/Jenkins).

Nice to haves:

  • Experience handling big data and building data processing pipelines (Spark).
  • Experience with ML/AI systems.

Education:

  • BSc/BA degree in computer science, engineering or related discipline OR relevant years of experience in required skills.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive salary aligned to your skills and experience;
  • Equity as we want you to have a part of what we are building;
  • Unlimited Time Off Policy- A work-life balance and focus on our well-being are critical to keeping us performing at our best;
  • We embrace a hybrid approach that requires employees to be in the office for two days a week. We strongly believe that this approach fosters collaboration and enables the building of meaningful relationships;
  • You will also get a new starter budget of €235 to kit out your home office;
  • Opportunity to work on innovative projects with smart-minded people keen to share their knowledge and continuously improve;
  • Annual learning budget of €2200 (prorated based on start date) to drive your performance and career development.
