Our Opportunity at Chewy!


We are currently recruiting an Operations Manager for our Compounding Lab in Louisville, KY! This leader will manage operational tasks for the Compounding Lab. They will balance safety, quality, customer experience, and efficiency. They will also develop leaders and expand capabilities in a highly regulated environment. This individual will be someone who loves dealing with ambiguity, change, and enjoys getting into the details to drive improvements.
 

What You'll Do:

  • Follow and ensure all safety and USP guidelines for preparation of compounded medications as described in Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide a healthy and safe work environment for associates working in the compounding laboratory.
  • Direct Compounding Laboratory supervisory personnel to achieve prescribed objectives, including timely processing of customer orders while maintaining the highest possible quality and lab efficiencies.
  • Ensure that all key performance indicators are on target for the operation, such as batches per hour, throughput, and quality/safety metrics are being met.
  • Own operational performance for the compounding lab across multiple shifts, including safety, quality, cost, and customer experience outcomes.
  • Lead and own the development of a team of Area Managers and Operations Leads, with accountability for performance across all shifts.
  • Translate site and network-level goals into execution plans, prioritizing initiatives that improve workplace safety, product quality, expenses, and timeliness at scale. Partner with cross-functional and network collaborators to share best practices and drive standardization where appropriate.
  • Build a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees in the compounding lab to provide feedback and lead changes within the facility, adapt to the constantly evolving business, and stay focused on the customer experience
  • Drive projects through our Continuous Efficiency Improvement Program (CEIP) to improve overall safety, quality, cost, and delivery while growing and expanding capabilities within the compounding lab.

What You'll Need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or Equivalent Experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in fulfillment center/warehouse operations or compounding pharmacy operations leading large groups of hourly employees.
  • Experience building or improving inventory management, order management, and warehouse management systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze operational data, identify trends and root causes, and drive sustainable performance improvements.
  • Effective communicator and leader for employees, direct reports, cross-functional teams and executive leadership
  • Must be flexible to work weekends as needed and position may require some travel.
  • Working knowledge of compounding equipment and laboratory operations, with the ability to step in and support hands-on execution or training when required.
  • Familiarity with USP <795>, <797>, and upcoming <800> guidelines for the preparation of compounded medications.
  • Compounding may be exposed to chemicals used in the preparation of compounds (some are classified as hazardous and/or toxic by the National Institute for Safety and Health and special safety precautions must be taken when working with these chemicals).

Bonus:

  • Compounding leadership experience
  • Certification and/or experience in Lean Six Sigma and/or Green Belt certification

Physical requirements:

  • Must have visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Required to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Must be capable to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE for extended durations when required.
  • Required to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
