We are a globally distributed team of passionate engineers dedicated to solving complex challenges in the authentication and identity space!About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Authentication Security team. This is a critical role for a hands-on leader who is passionate about both technology and people. You will be responsible for guiding the team's technical strategy and execution while also mentoring and developing the careers of a dedicated group of engineers. As both a technical lead and a people leader, you will drive feature delivery, prioritize critical features, mentor engineers through their career growth, and ensure secure, scalable, and reliable authentication services at Workday!
What You’ll Do
Drive strategic execution by leading and managing a team of software engineers to work on authentication and security systems.
Provide technical direction in areas such as OAuth, OIDC, SAML, MFA, SSO, WebAuthn, and passkey-based authentication.
Drive delivery of secure, high-quality features through agile processes and engineering practices.
Build cross-functional partnership by collaborating with product managers, architects, and other engineering teams to craft the roadmap and execution strategy.
Showcase operational excellence by owning and evolving planning and tracking using tools such as Jira, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and reporting.
Drive a culture of engineering excellence by fostering a high-performing team through coaching, feedback, and clear career development support.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
Leadership: 5+ years leading engineering teams in a manager or tech lead capacity.
Domain expertise: 8+ years experience building and managing systems for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), and general Identity and Access Management (IAM) with expert knowledge of identity protocols and standards, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SAML.
Agile proficiency: expert in running agile teams using Scrum, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Technical breadth: Expertise with development planning and tracking tools, particularly Jira.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience
Other Qualifications:
Experience in object oriented programming, especially Scala, is a plus
Strong background in software security, with deep, hands-on expertise in the authentication domain.
A passion for people management and a track record of coaching engineers to help them achieve their career goals.
