AbbVie has a consultation process with key affiliates, including Canada, to seek input into the clinical development and strategy of key pipeline assets (“touchpoint process”).  The Manager, Pipeline Strategy leads the execution of the touchpoint process with the Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial and Regulatory teams in preparation for input into global touchpoints. This position reports into the Lead, RWE/HEOR and Pipeline Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

The Manager, Pipeline Strategy leads the execution of pipeline activities across assigned enterprise assets, ensuring strong collaboration and alignment with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic business objectives. This role works closely with partners in Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, and Medical Affairs to ensure timely and informed contributions to local opportunities and Global Commercial Development (GCD) processes.

The Manager, Pipeline Strategy leverages their market access expertise and deep knowledge of the Canadian landscape to provide critical strategic input on:

  • Target product profiles and claims
  • Evidence requirements and data gaps
  • Canadian epidemiology
  • Local commercial opportunities and business planning
  • Treatment options and standards of care
  • Competitive and reimbursement landscape
  • Stakeholder needs, including patients/patient organizations, healthcare providers, Health Canada, CDA-AMC, INESSS, private and public payers, and PMPRB
  • Primary and secondary research to inform recommendations for emerging therapeutic areas
  • Identification of local experts and consultants in relevant disease areas

The Manager, Pipeline Strategy ensures accurate, timely tracking and reporting of milestones to inform both short- and long-term local business plans. Success in this role requires a collaborative mindset, strategic market access expertise, and the ability to proactively identify, communicate, and manage opportunities and risks with cross-functional business partners to optimize access for future pipeline assets.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required:

  • Advanced degree (Masters/PhD/PharmD/MBA) in Science, Pharmacy, Business, Health Economics, Public Health, or related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Market Access or related roles within the pharmaceutical industry or consulting, preferably in Canada. Experience with CDA-AMC and INESSS submissions required.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, HTA processes (CDA-AMC, INESSS), public and private payer drug pricing, and submission requirements.
  • Understanding of clinical development and regulatory processes
  • Understanding with pharmacoeconomic principles / guidelines and methodological developments preferred
  • Familiarity with key pharmaceutical industry data sources preferred

Other Requirements

  • The incumbent must be able to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25% of the time.
