In addition to leading the Recreation Equipment/Play Area Crew, this position is responsible for supervising the Facilities Maintenance Worker assigned to fencing. Duties include assigning and reviewing fencing maintenance and repair work, coordinating responses to fencing-related emergencies, ensuring adherence to safety practices, and integrating fencing tasks into broader site maintenance and improvement projects. Employees allocated to this class plan workload, schedule staff, allocate equipment and materials, layout jobs, and instruct subordinate staff in how to accomplish the work. They are required to observe the safe and efficient progress of the work, as well as review the finished product for conformance to ASTM play area and safety surfacing standards. The position requires certification as a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI).</p><p style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt; transition: all;">This position provides critical leadership to an area of maintenance that directly responds to external claims of child health and safety concerns. A thorough understanding of supervisory principles with the ability to make decisions related to staffing and work prioritization is essential. The work requires a working knowledge of cost estimation, construction techniques and the ability to read and interpret construction documents. &nbsp;Guidelines exist in the form of City and Department policies and procedures however broad guidelines are given for work assignments requiring judgment on the part of the employee to ensure timely completion of all work assignments. &nbsp;Personal contacts are with department directors, managers, crew chiefs, surveyors, engineers, and private contractors to coordinate work projects as well as with vendors to discuss equipment and material purchases. Contact with the public is to provide information to answer questions or complaints.</p><p style="margin: 0in; text-align: center; transition: all;"><strong style="transition: all;">We are currently recruiting for one (1) regular, benefited position on the Day Shift.</strong></p><br style="transition: all;"><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;" data-pasted="true"><li>Plan workload, supervise and schedule staff, allocate equipment and materials, layout jobs, instruct team in how to accomplish the work. Observe the safe and efficient progress of the work and review the finished product for conformance to standards.</li><li>Establish and maintain systems with checklists to ensure that each play area in our system is inspected using ASTM safety standards at least every 90 days.</li><li>Work with Asset Management Work Order (AMWO) system to create processes and procedures to manage records of inspections, damage and wear trends and parts ordered and replaced.</li><li>Make recommendations to Supervisor regarding conditions and actions required to ensure safe operation of play equipment.</li><li>Exercise knowledge of cost estimation, construction techniques in developing proposals for capital projects and in review of capital projects. Exercise knowledge of public works by reviewing and interpreting plan sets (need to be able to read blueprints) and specifications to develop comment list for capital projects.</li><li>Write equipment specifications for replacement of obsolete equipment including vehicles and hand-held electric and or gas-powered tools.</li><li>Prioritize work including: inspection of capital projects, repair and replacement of broken parts on playground equipment, repair of universal gym and other related sports and play equipment, repair or assemble bleachers, base anchors, goal posts, backstops, court components and concrete pads, pick up material orders and delivery of supplies to job sites and shop, organization of inventory, operation of forklift in moving martials, removal of damaged materials from job sites and deliver to appropriate waste or recycling centers.&nbsp;</li><li>Readily communicate and coordinate with department directors, managers, crew chiefs, surveyors, engineers, and private contractors to coordinate work projects and with vendors to discuss equipment purchases.
